The adhesive tape is water and weather resistant, but it is not heat resistant. At high temperatures, the adhesive on the adhesive tape can slip or even dry out. A better alternative to adhesive tape for sealing metallic and flexible ducts is duct putty. Putty is a soft material that does not harden, similar to caulking. Putting putty is not as practical as adhesive tape, it's messy, and larger gaps have to be filled with fiberglass mesh before applying the putty.

In addition, high-quality adhesive tape should continue to be used to seal the holes in an oven or air controller.
